Brazilian World Cup winning captain Carlos Alberto Torres has died, aged 72 Tipped as one of the greatest defenders ever, Alberto won 53 caps for the Brazil National Team, scoring 8 goals including the iconic goal in the 1970 World Cup final against Italy. He spent the majority of his club career with Santos where he played alongside Pelé, before moving back to his first club Fluminese in 1974. He also had brief stints with Flamengo and New York Cosmos. Alberto retired in 1982. He went on to coach Flamengo, Fluminese, Azerbaijan and Oman.
